I am currently doing research on Information Technology used by law firms, and need help creating a list of consulting firms, service providers and technology companies in the USA.
What I'd like to do:
I'd like to begin creating a database by searching company listings on Legal Technology directories, exploring websites of vendors listed in those directories, then exploring companies and technologies listed on those websites. I would then like to conduct basic Google searches for widely used Legal Technologies and specialized service providers which were not captured by the initial search in the directories.
What I need from you:
Please see the attached spreadsheet, which I have started as an example. This task will require heavy web browsing, a good attention span to ensure accuracy of data, an investigative nature to capture company information as you find it, and a lot if patience with details. This is the type of research consulting firms as of associates, or done by university students. Although it is manual, it is an important part of my research. If you do not feel you have the patience for this type of detailed work over several hours, please do not submit your proposal. If you are ready to put on some music and headphones and help me by doing some internet research, drop me a line.
Goal:
I'm looking for someone that can fill the spreadsheet with profile information for service providers and technology companies that specialize in Legal IT services. Its very important that the data entered is accurate, and as complete as possible without being excessively detailed in the comments section. I don't expect a list of all companies in the USA. Just the major technologies, providers listed on websites, and major firms you can find via Google (up to 10 pages into the search results, for example).
Value to Me:
I am under an tight deadline, and don't have a lot of time to conduct this type of extensive web browsing. Your assistance will help me do research that I need, and allow me to complete other tasks which I also need to complete asap. The spreadsheet will be the beginning of an IT database that I would like to expand and maintain in the future. I can answer your questions as you begin the task, and review preliminary updates to the file to ensure you are moving in the right direction.

This will give you some insight into industry challenges, and may even spark your interest in learning more on your own. If you have a legal or IT background, this task may be well suited to you because may have knowledge of different types of IT for law firms (document management, case management, security, etc).
Deadline:
I'd like to complete this task by this week, and estimate somewhere between 10-20 hours of total research time. Obviously, you will need to take regular breaks to keep a sharp attention span and not miss details, so the total time in not set in stone. This is why i need someone who is great with details, and can get this going efficiently in my place. I understand you may have other clients and projects you are working on, but I have a strong preference for someone who can commit 100% to doing a thorough job on this task immediately (because if you do a few hours a day, it may take longer than a week). Please do not underestimate the amount of information who will need to review to obtain the key data I am looking for. I'm looking for accuracy of data, fast completion of this task (this week), and a nice extensive list of companies that will give me lots of information to research from there. If you are the type of person who does not do quality or thorough work, this task may not suit you.
